这次圣诞节前的美国空难，谁都无法预料，居然无情地夺去了这位中国优秀青年企业家年仅47岁的生命，真可谓是“天妒英才”。

1971年，陈玮出生于湖南长沙。早年就读于长沙明德中学，后考入中南大学铁道学院。1995年赴美国孟菲斯大学求学，1998年8月，取得孟菲斯大学国际工商管理MBA硕士学位后留美创业，创办了美国商翔实业有限公司，并担任公司董事长、执行总裁。

陈玮他爱好广泛，包括飞行驾驶、高尔夫、狩猎等。2006年，他开始学习飞行驾驶，2007年获得飞行驾驶执照，并获得仪器驾驶及双引擎飞行的资格，随后投入数百万美元购置了塞斯纳四人座和派珀六人座私人公务飞机，用于访问客户和到自己分公司巡视工作。

2009年，陈玮从环球飞行网上发现从1924 年以来国际上有166人尝试过环球飞行，但名单中没有一个中国人的名字。于是，他萌生了一个打算：不管遇到任何艰难险阻，都要用自己的行动去实现中国人的环球飞行梦想。
